On Wednesday’s We Wear Pink

Hey lovely!

I LOVE this pink themed makeup look I created the other day while I was house sitting for a friend. Who else whips out their makeup bag when they’re bored and home alone? *hands up* anyone? or is it just me? haha. I mean, if you’re going to spend the entire day (and probably night) netflix-ing like a champ then you should be glammed up, right?

I haven’t done a pink look in oh so long so I grabbed my ABH modern renaissance palette and went to town. I hope you enjoy what I came up with – oh and I know it’s a little long but I was in a chatty mood! I promise you’ll have a little laugh when I get scared by a noise (hey! it’s scary being all alone in the countryside after you’ve just watched a horror movie set in the woods!)…. Read More »

Makeup Tutorial: Cranberry Crush

Processed with VSCO with hb1 preset

Hey lovely!

Today I bring you a look that uses one of my most favourite shades ever – CRANBERRY. I ended up using a whole bunch of colours but that’s because I get excited and want to use all the colours I own haha.
I was so excited to film this tutorial as I haven’t done a cranberry look on my channel which is cray cray considering how much I adore this shade!
I also wanted to see if I could do a whole makeup look using my oval brushes that were sent to me from Simple Glam Girls. I have used the brushes for foundation but never eyeshadow – so you get to see how I go using them in this video. I get excited and want to use all the colours I own haha.
I hope you enjoy!!

Friday Favourites: Coconut Oil

11722114_490757211092136_1132320634122979846_o

While showering this week I tried out something new with coconut oil and in light of this I decided that I would do a post on what I use coconut oil for!

~ Shaving Cream ~
Yes you read that right, shaving cream!!! I had a “nooo, that surely won’t work!” reaction when I read about this on another blog so this week I decided to try it out and whaddaya know! It works really well! Normally the blade really irritates my skin and makes it feel super sensitive and itchy even while I’m shaving! With the coconut oil my blade glided smoothly, I didn’t feel it at all on my skin. No redness or itchiness when I got out of the shower – just super smooth lusious pins 😀

A couple tips:

  • After every second or third “stroke/shave?” rinse the blade in the water otherwise it gets clogged up.
  • Make sure to just spread a THIN layer of coconut oil on your skin so as to not clog the blade and to ensure that it actually cuts the hair.

~ Cooking ~
Nom nom nom. Coconut oil is the bomb for cooking with. I love the nutty flavor it infuses into my food.

My easy go-to meal is roast veggies. Chop up your veggies into small chunks then spread chunks of the oil around the tray along with Nuttelex Olive, although I have just discovered that they do a coconut version now, and a nice sprinkling of Murray River Pink Rock Salt then plonk in the oven for half hour or so. Soooo good! I’m getting so hungry just writing about this haha.

If you are wondering what Nuttelex is – it is a vegan alternaltive to butter (tastes better in my opinion too). I’ve been using it for years:

  • Dairy & Lactose FREE
  • Gluten FREE
  • Nut Oil FREE
  • FREE FROM Artificial Additives
  • Soy FREE
  • FREE FROM Animal Ingredients
  • Cholesterol FREE
  • Free From Genetically Modified Ingredients

~ Makeup Remover ~
Legit the best makeup remover EVER! It literally melts the makeup on your face. I rub a small amount between my fingers then gently rub onto my eye makeup and then the rest of my face. Keep massaging the oil in until all makeup is a black smudgy mess on your face then use a natural cleanser to remove the oil et voila makeup gone!

~ Body moisturiser ~
Towards the end of my shower I slather the oil from my legs up and on to my face then lightly rinse off et voila! Nice smooth, lovely smelling skin. I find that just doing that alone helps stop my skin from looking all dry and scaly. I still moisturise my face with a cream moisturiser as I have really dry cheeks and forehead.

~ Where to buy? ~
I buy mine from Coles in the health section – you can also buy from health stores.

What to look for:

  • Organic
  • Unrefined
  • Virgin Coconut Oil

The brand I’m currently using is Planet Food. I also use the ECO brand which I got from Coles as well.

What do you use coconut oil for? Let me know in the comments below. I’m yet to try it in my hair or oil pulling…as anyone tried it? I would love to hear from you!

Much love,

Chloe xxx

Review and Swatches: Arbonne Cosmetics

It’s review time! As promised in my last post, here is my first review on Arbonne cosmetics. I don’t actually own any products yet…I’ve got an order coming in the post (should arrive this week!!). However I have borrowed Bella’s (she is the consultant who got me onto Arbonne) kit a couple times for makeup parties now so while I had her makeup I took the opportunity to do a few swatches for you. I decided to include the prices for Retail, Preferred and Client so you can see how much cheaper it is to be a preferred client or consultant 🙂 I am going to start with Eyeshadows. I have 8 to review today.

Java. A medium dark brown with a matte finish. Chocolate is one of my favourite colours in the eyeshadow range. The gold flecks add a nice sheen to the shadow. Two pretty purples 🙂 Divine Plum isn’t so highly pigmented, I did have to work at building it up but I love the colour. It would look great with green or brown or even blue eyes. Cabernet would look best with blue or green eyes 🙂 Titanium is a nice silver colour, perfect for creating a silver smoky eye! Smoke looks kind of brown in the photo but in real life it’s more of a silver/taupe colour. Midnight is a highly pigmented blue-black colour. One of the girls at my makeup party wanted to do a blue smoky eye, she used blue slate on the lid, a navy blue  in the crease and darkened the crease up with midnight, looked amazing! I really like how smooth and almost creamy feeling (with the exception of chocolate which is a tiny bit grainy but that is due to the gold flecks) these shadows are. The Essentials: $26 Retail Client Price. Lip Gloss: The lip glosses are beautiful. Very creamy, not sticky and really pigmented. My favourites out of the above are Brown Sugar, Pearl and Posh. Brown Sugar is a perfect light brown colour, I’ve never worn brownish colours on my lips before but this looks great! Pearl is an awesome nude lipgloss, looks great with a dark smokey eye, and posh is a pretty candy pink. The Essentials: $36 Retail Client Price Cheeks: Dusty Rose looks awesome on fairer skin tones and Apricot is perfect for those with a more tan/olive complexion. Very smooth powder blushes, Dusty Rose is matte while Apricot has a pretty shimmer to it. Dusty Rose is very similar to my favourite blush by Zuii – Melon but without the shimmer. The Essentials: Price: $40 Retail Price. I don’t use bronzer but this is a nice one that can be used for contouring as it doesn’t have a lot of shimmer. It looks quite light in the photo but it’s a bit darker in real life. The Essentials: $46 Retail Client Price. Foundation/Primer: LOVE!!! This primer is amazing!! It literally makes your skin feel like silk…and it has vitamins in it too, so not only does it make your skin feel smooth it’s actually good for your skin, win-win 🙂 I dare you to not fall in love with this product when you try it out haha. This is a must buy if you want to create the perfect base. The Perfecting Liquid Foundation is one of the main reasons I decided to go with Arbonne. I love it 😀 The formula is so light, it doesn’t feel thick and cakey on your face, it really does feel like you are wearing nothing! But at the same time the foundation provides a really nice coverage, evening out redness and hiding blemishes really well. I used these foundations at a makeup party on the weekend and all the ladies loved it and were really surprised at how good the coverage is for such a light-weight foundation. Oh and it has SPF 15 🙂 What Arbonne says about this foundation: “Arbonne’s Perfecting Liquid Foundation SPF 15 is the ultimate in liquid foundation technology with polypeptides, gliding seamlessly onto the skin creating an even smooth tone. The Perfecting Liquid Foundation SPF 15 with light reflecting properties is delivered effortlessly through the airless pump, resulting in a flawless finish, whilst maintaining moisture levels for a smooth and healthy skin tone. The exclusive Optilight Technology helps ensure that the product is non-comodogenic, enhancing breathability and reducing the chance of pore clogging and skin issues.” From left to right:Toffee Bronze, Rosy Beige, Neutral, Honey Beige,Buff, Soft Blush, Fair, Alabaster. There are another 7 shades that I will photograph once I’ve bought them. 15 shades is a pretty good selection 🙂 Will hopefully have the whole range within the next few months but the 8 shades I’ve listed above are going to be the most popular I reckon. I’ve been trying out the colours on myself, trying to find a good match. It is so much easier to match someone else than yourself! At first I thought I was Buff and then I decided I was Soft Blush…I’m still not entirely sure ha ha. Will have to get someone to help me decide 😛

The Essentials: Price: $55 retail price.

That’s all I’ve got to review today. As I add to my kit I will write up more reviews 🙂
