Gift Vouchers – the Perfect Christmas Present for Makeup Lovers ♥♥♥

Hello lovelies ♥

I just wanted to do a quick post on my blog as I have been receiving emails in regards to gift vouchers! I actually had some done up this year so for the first time I have pretty vouchers with my own logo on there – so excited to send these out to my clients!

Makeup lessons are $110 per person and this includes an 8 piece professional brush set for each person to keep. I run private lessons and up to 6 people for group lessons. I cater the 2 hour lesson to personal requests – some people request a full on contouring and brow lesson, most want to do a day – night time lesson, I can also do a vintage makeup lesson…the options are almost endless haha.

If you would like to purchase a voucher for a friend or family member please send me an email abrushwithcolour@gmail.com

Lots of love,

Chloe  ♥ ♥ ♥

It’s review time! As promised in my last post, here is my first review on Arbonne cosmetics. I don’t actually own any products yet…I’ve got an order coming in the post (should arrive this week!!). However I have borrowed Bella’s (she is the consultant who got me onto Arbonne) kit a couple times for makeup parties now so while I had her makeup I took the opportunity to do a few swatches for you. I decided to include the prices for Retail, Preferred and Client so you can see how much cheaper it is to be a preferred client or consultant 🙂 I am going to start with Eyeshadows. I have 8 to review today.

Java. A medium dark brown with a matte finish. Chocolate is one of my favourite colours in the eyeshadow range. The gold flecks add a nice sheen to the shadow. Two pretty purples 🙂 Divine Plum isn’t so highly pigmented, I did have to work at building it up but I love the colour. It would look great with green or brown or even blue eyes. Cabernet would look best with blue or green eyes 🙂 Titanium is a nice silver colour, perfect for creating a silver smoky eye! Smoke looks kind of brown in the photo but in real life it’s more of a silver/taupe colour. Midnight is a highly pigmented blue-black colour. One of the girls at my makeup party wanted to do a blue smoky eye, she used blue slate on the lid, a navy blue  in the crease and darkened the crease up with midnight, looked amazing! I really like how smooth and almost creamy feeling (with the exception of chocolate which is a tiny bit grainy but that is due to the gold flecks) these shadows are. The Essentials: $26 Retail Client Price. Lip Gloss: The lip glosses are beautiful. Very creamy, not sticky and really pigmented. My favourites out of the above are Brown Sugar, Pearl and Posh. Brown Sugar is a perfect light brown colour, I’ve never worn brownish colours on my lips before but this looks great! Pearl is an awesome nude lipgloss, looks great with a dark smokey eye, and posh is a pretty candy pink. The Essentials: $36 Retail Client Price Cheeks: Dusty Rose looks awesome on fairer skin tones and Apricot is perfect for those with a more tan/olive complexion. Very smooth powder blushes, Dusty Rose is matte while Apricot has a pretty shimmer to it. Dusty Rose is very similar to my favourite blush by Zuii – Melon but without the shimmer. The Essentials: Price: $40 Retail Price. I don’t use bronzer but this is a nice one that can be used for contouring as it doesn’t have a lot of shimmer. It looks quite light in the photo but it’s a bit darker in real life. The Essentials: $46 Retail Client Price. Foundation/Primer: LOVE!!! This primer is amazing!! It literally makes your skin feel like silk…and it has vitamins in it too, so not only does it make your skin feel smooth it’s actually good for your skin, win-win 🙂 I dare you to not fall in love with this product when you try it out haha. This is a must buy if you want to create the perfect base. The Perfecting Liquid Foundation is one of the main reasons I decided to go with Arbonne. I love it 😀 The formula is so light, it doesn’t feel thick and cakey on your face, it really does feel like you are wearing nothing! But at the same time the foundation provides a really nice coverage, evening out redness and hiding blemishes really well. I used these foundations at a makeup party on the weekend and all the ladies loved it and were really surprised at how good the coverage is for such a light-weight foundation. Oh and it has SPF 15 🙂 What Arbonne says about this foundation: “Arbonne’s Perfecting Liquid Foundation SPF 15 is the ultimate in liquid foundation technology with polypeptides, gliding seamlessly onto the skin creating an even smooth tone. The Perfecting Liquid Foundation SPF 15 with light reflecting properties is delivered effortlessly through the airless pump, resulting in a flawless finish, whilst maintaining moisture levels for a smooth and healthy skin tone. The exclusive Optilight Technology helps ensure that the product is non-comodogenic, enhancing breathability and reducing the chance of pore clogging and skin issues.” From left to right:Toffee Bronze, Rosy Beige, Neutral, Honey Beige,Buff, Soft Blush, Fair, Alabaster. There are another 7 shades that I will photograph once I’ve bought them. 15 shades is a pretty good selection 🙂 Will hopefully have the whole range within the next few months but the 8 shades I’ve listed above are going to be the most popular I reckon. I’ve been trying out the colours on myself, trying to find a good match. It is so much easier to match someone else than yourself! At first I thought I was Buff and then I decided I was Soft Blush…I’m still not entirely sure ha ha. Will have to get someone to help me decide 😛

The Essentials: Price: $55 retail price.

That’s all I’ve got to review today. As I add to my kit I will write up more reviews 🙂

Makeup Lessons

Helloooo!

Today I wanted to talk about makeup lessons. Teaching makeup has become one of my favourite aspects of being a makeup artist, I love it 😀 I love getting to meet groups of women every weekend, I love sharing my knowledge with them and I love seeing the transformation that has taken place by the end of the lesson. Seriously, makeup is amazing! I love how it can transform, sculpt and enhance a person’s face. LOVE.

So what happens in a lesson?
For 2 1/2  hours I will teach you how to create fabulous makeup. You will learn how to contour those cheek bones, and highlight your best features. We will go through selecting the right colours to enhance your eye colour and skin tone plus application techniques that will make smokey eyes a breeze! I will also go through which makeup brushes to use and where to buy them from.  You will learn skills for life and discover how easy it is to replicate your gorgeous new style at home, time and time over.

I recommend you bring your own makeup and brushes so I can review them and suggest how they can be updated and supplemented if need be. Don’t stress if you don’t have any tools or makeup as I bring it all with me 🙂

Just so you can come prepared, I have started selling one of the brands of makeup I use, Arbonne. The liquid foundation is amazing! LOVE IT. You will get to use some of the products during the lesson and if you fall in love with anything you can buy from me that day or go online and order 🙂

Now, I thought I would share some photos taken during a couple of my makeup parties. Photos taken by Belinda Radalj.

You can book in a private lesson or a group lesson for a girly day or perhaps for a special occasion! It is a fun way to start off your Hen’s night/Birthday Bash/Fancy Dinner etc etc. plus you will all be glammed up for the rest of the night 🙂

Ha ha I love this photo….these ladies were so eager to learn about makeup they were crowding around me and taking notes like crazy 😀

Go on!..Book in a lesson, you won’t regret it. How could you? An afternoon or evening spent with your girlfriends, snacks, champagne, makeup and looking fabulous at the end of it…I couldn’t think of anything bettter haha.

Have a fabulous weekend lovelies…

Makeup Lesson: Jackie

Recently I ran a makeup lesson with Belinda’s gorgeous friend Jackie. It was my first time teaching makeup application.

I admit that I was a little nervous but Jackie immediately put me at ease, she is so easy going and friendly that it’s impossible to feel  nervous around her.

Jackie picked out several (make that, quite a lot) of looks she loved from her Rae Morris book. I decided to go with the natural look and a colorful green and purple look, which would bring out the green in her hazel eyes!

I mainly used Jackie’s makeup so I can’t remember what products I used. I did get to use Belinda’s 88 Warm Palette which has some really nice colors in it. I am going to buy it very soon!

First look: The Natural Look.

Second Look: Purple and Metallic Green.

Tomorrow my ad for makeup lessons will be opening on Living Social!!

I am so excited. I really hope that this ad brings in a lot more business for me. If I let myself think about the fact that I’ll be teaching groups of girls makeup application I start getting nervous. But I’m keeping focused.

I have compiled an ever growing list of makeup products/supplies I’ll need for lessons. It’s going to cost a bit for the outlay but it will be worth it in the end.

This is my list so far:

  • Disposable mascara wands
  • False lashes
  • More foundation
  • Lipsticks
  • Lipglosses
  • Lip liners
  • Face wipes
  • Mirrors
  • Little brush sets for my students
  • Cotton pads and buds
  • Hand sanitisers
  • Mac face charts
  • Mac Paint Pots in Ground Work, Bare Canvas and Bare Study.
  • Kryolan concealer wheel
  • A highlighter in powder and liquid
  • More mascaras…most likely Maybelline faslies and volume express.

I’m sure the list is going to get a lot bigger haha. I can’t wait to start crossing off this list 🙂

That’s it for this post! An outfit post is coming up next!

Hugs and kisses.
