Review & Swatches: Lipsticks.

Hi!

Today I’m reviewing 11 lipsticks! I’ve been meaning to do a review on them since the beginning of the year! *slap on wrist for being lazy* 😛

There’s a mixture of brands in this review…a few well known brands such as MAC to less known organic brands such as Morgan Annie.

These are the colours I’m reviewing:

Elusyion: Blush.
What they say:
Elusyion Organic and Mineral Lipsticks Creating a completely natural and vegan lipstick is no small feat, but we have done it, with amazing results!. Creating one that gives incredible colour and performance is one of Elusyion’s greatest achievements! Formulated with organic olive, shea butter and jojoba oil to moisturize your lips, Elusyion lipsticks have a creamy texture, fantastic colours and great wearability, with absolutely zero chemicals or animal derivatives. Delivering the Perfect Pout!

My thoughts:
This is my least favourite of my lipsticks. It smells weirrrrd and doesn’t have much of a color pay off. It’s so light you can barely tell you’ve got anything on your lips. It is much too sheer for my liking.
I do like how smooth and moisturising it is though. I would definitely buy other colours as it is vegan and all natural…I just don’t like this colour Blush.

Price:
$36.95

Where to buy:
B Kind Organic Beauty Bar. You can buy this lipstick here.

Morgan Annie: Perfect Pink.
What they say:
Morgan Annie products ‘are100% Nano free, no synthetic chemicals, irritants, talc, clays or FD+C Dyes and NO Bismuth oxychloride.’

My thoughts:
My most used lipstick. I swear this lipstick suits EVERYONE! I’ve used it on most of brides. It is smooth and creamy but not lip gloss shiny. In fact it has more of a matte finish but without the dry feeling of a matte lipstick.
I pair this lippy with NYX lipgloss in Beige for a nice soft finish to my makeup look. Love it!
p.s. it is a little darker in real life…I took these photos yesterday evening so the light wasn’t so good, sorry!

Price:
$39.95

Where to buy:
Morgan Annie…you can buy from the website. Or look up a list of stockists and buy from a store in Perth.

MAC: Myth.
My thoughts:
Alright first up…after I bought these lipsticks *correction, after Jack bought these lipsticks for me from America* I discovered that MAC now tests on animals!!! Say what?! I am going to finish up the MAC products that I own but I don’t think I’ll be buying any more as I hate animal testing 🙁
Animal testing aside…I’m not a huge fan of this colour. It really does make me look dead when I wear it haha. However I have put a pink gloss over the top to add some colour and that looks nice. I love the consistency…and the smell! MAC lipsticks smell delicious!!

Price:
$36.00

Where to buy:
MAC website
Myers/David Jones

Barry M Lip Paint: Vibrant Pink No. 62
What they say:
There is a shade to suit every occasion from soft, shimmering pastels to bold, vibrant colours. All Lip Paint’s have a soft, smooth texture that is packed full of natural moisturisers to help them glide on and stay comfortable to wear for hours.

My thoughts:
How awesomely bright is this colour, seriously Barbie Pink! I actually wore this work one day 😉
The first Barry M lipstick I bought was a couple years ago, it was a nude colour. I never used it! It was horrible, the texture was extremely dry making it nearly impossible to apply properly. So I was put off buying anymore lipsticks from Barry M. But after watching a few YouTube videos and reading good reviews on the lipsticks at the beginning of this year I decided to give Barry M a second chance. Perhaps I just got a dud lippy last time? Anyways, this one is lovely. It’s nice and creamy, and is REALLY pigmented! I really like it…and all for $7, yeww!

Price:
$7.00

Where to buy:
Barry M website.

Barry M Lip Paint: Green, No. LP149
What they say:
There is a shade to suit every occasion from soft, shimmering pastels to bold, vibrant colours. All Lip Paint’s have a soft, smooth texture that is packed full of natural moisturisers to help them glide on and stay comfortable to wear for hours.

My thoughts:
Again, smooth and creamy. However this colour isn’t as opaque as the vibrant pink, I had to apply a few layers to build up the opaqueness…but hey, it’s green, you’re not really going to be wearing this colour everyday so it doesn’t need to be the perfect lipstick! I’m yet to use this lippy in a look…maybe I’ll use it for a Christmas inspired look? haha 😛

Price:
$7.00

Where to buy:
Barry M website.

Barry M Lip Paint: Black, No. LP37
What they say:
There is a shade to suit every occasion from soft, shimmering pastels to bold, vibrant colours. All Lip Paint’s have a soft, smooth texture that is packed full of natural moisturisers to help them glide on and stay comfortable to wear for hours.

My thoughts:
I love this black lipstick. In the photo it looks like it has a bit of a red/purple? tinge to it..in real life it doesn’t. It is pure black! This is the same as Vibrant Pink, very smooth and pigmented. I haven’t really used it for a look yet but will do soon!

Price:
$7.00

Where to buy:
Barry M website.

Barry M Lip Paint: Royal Raspberry.
What they say:
There is a shade to suit every occasion from soft, shimmering pastels to bold, vibrant colours. All Lip Paint’s have a soft, smooth texture that is packed full of natural moisturisers to help them glide on and stay comfortable to wear for hours.

My thoughts:
This is probably my least favourite Barry M lipstick that I own. It is way to shiny, it feels more like a gloss and it tends to slide around your lips while applying. It also isn’t as pigmented as the black and vibrant pink, you can see in the picture that it looks quite shiny and a little patchy…not the biggest fan of this one, sorry.

Price:
$7.00

Where to buy:
Barry M website.

Nvey: No. 354
What they say:
ECO Lipstick delivers vibrant and natural colour compositions. An organic Castor Oil base combined with soothing safflower, beeswax and Vitamin E provides antioxidant and nourishing properties for soft, smooth lips. Fashionable colors available in three textures.

My thoughts:
This colour is really close to the Barry M Royal Raspberry ($7.00 vs $29.95…hmm haha). I do like this one better than the Barry M lipstick though. It has less shine, it’s a nice balance between gloss and matte. It has a lovely texture as well…and this colour looks really nice with green eyes I’ve noticed.

Price:
$29.95

Where to buy:
B Kind Organic Beauty Bar.

Morgan Annie: Passion Red.
What they say:
Morgan Annie products ‘are100% Nano free, no synthetic chemicals, irritants, talc, clays or FD+C Dyes and NO Bismuth oxychloride.’

My thoughts:
A matte red…I find that if you don’t use it for a while it gets really dry and hard to apply, and the texture is kind of rough. I don’t love this one as much as I do the Perfect Pink. Due to the texture and dryness I don’t really use this lipstick very much anymore.

Price:
$39.95

Where to buy:
Morgan Annie…you can buy from the website. Or look up a list of stockists and buy from a store in Perth.

MAC: Russian Red.
My thoughts:
A beautiful matte “old hollywood glamour” red. It isn’t as matte as the Viva Glam I red (see below), it has a little more shine to it and it has a great staying power.

Price:
$36.00

Where to buy:
MAC website
Myers/David Jones

MAC: Viva Glam I.
My thoughts:
I adore this lipstick! It applies so smoothly, is matte and the staying power for this lippy is awesome! I wear it all day at work, even eat and drink and I don’t even need to touch up once!  And it smells AH-MAZING…but sadly it is a MAC product and as I said at the beginning, they now test on animals 🙁

Price:
$36.00

Where to buy:

That’s the end of my review 🙂 Do you own any of the lipsticks I’ve reviewed today?

Review & Swatches: Makeup Geek Eyeshadows. Part 3

I have ANOTHER Makeup Geek (MUG) eye shadow review today! I now have over 20 shades! I just want to extend a BIG thank you to Brittany from Makeup Geek who offered to send me another 12 eyeshadows of my choice!! Brittany is so lovely, thank you girl! I absolutely love these colours that I picked out xoxox

Now, I just want to point out that even though MUG sent me these eyeshadows for free it does NOT mean that my review will all about what the MUG team wants to hear. I don’t think they would want me to write like that either! No, these reviews are all my own opinion 🙂

Ok, now that the disclaimer is out of the way, let’s get started with the review!…

Mercury:
A metallic silver. It has a gorgeous metallic sheen without being over-the-top, making this a colour that is wearable day and night. 4/5
Bleached Blonde: A shimmery, pale gold. This looks great with blue eyes. I’ve paired it Bada Bing to create a nice day time look. The colour pay off isn’t the greatest unfortunately…compared to most other MUG eyeshadows anyway. 3/5
Vanilla Bean: I love this shade! A lovely, light, buttercream matte eyeshadow. It’s PERFECT for blending out dark eyeshadows and for on the brow bone for those who would rather a matte shadow over a shimmery one like Shimma Shimma. 5/5

Peacock: A matte deep teal blue. Insane pigmentation!! Top marks for that MUG!! To be honest I haven’t really tried this colour out so I haven’t got much to say except that it has GREAT pigmentation and is matte…so many colours are shimmery these days! I will use this colour in a look soon and give it a good test run 🙂 4/5 (for pigmentation)
Mermaid: Metallic teal with gold reflects. Love love love! This colour makes me happy, haha. It is hard to photograph shimmery colours, in real life you can see the gold sheen better and it really does look like a MERMAIDS tail!! Stunning. And AMAZING pigmentation 5/5
Sea Mist: A shimmery turquoise. Again, awesome colour payoff! This is a super pretty shade…would look lovely paired with brown eyeshadows…I shall do a look with this very soon. 4/5

Mango Tango: Peachy coral pink, more on the matte side. I really like this colour! Makes me think of watermelon hehe. Good pigmentation too! I think this would look lovely on blue eyes 🙂 4/5
Cinderella: Pale shimmery pink…this is a very low shimmer colour. I’ve used it a couple times but…I don’t know, I’m just not really sold on this colour. It is pretty but the pigmentation isn’t very good so it doesn’t show up very well on the eyes. 2.5/5
Burlesque: A deep metallic burgundy. I really like this shade. It looks beautiful on my green eyes AND blue eyes! I’ve paired this with Gold Digger and Bada Bing for a nice warm smokey eye. The pigmentation is pretty good as well. I find that with adding other colours and blending, this colour fades away easily so I always just go back and add more at the end. The staying power is good! 4/5

Pixie Dust:
A shimmery lime green. I had this colour on my wish list for ages so when I was offered some free colours I immediatley added this to my list of 12! I’ve only used it as a liner so far…great pigmentation! I was very impressed with it 🙂 4/5
Manderine: Bright orange with flecks of gold. This too was on my wish list…I HAD to get this one because my aunt really wants me to try out a look on her using this colour, so I would have been in trouble if I didn’t choose this one 😛 I love it though! As you can see, it is very vibrant…I didn’t need really build up the colour when I used it. The only thing  I found was that the potency didn’t last as well as some of the other colours. I find the same thing happens with Razzleberry…the colour stays on all over a primer but the vibrancy fades…so for that reason I will give it a 3.5/5 Great colour otherwise…looks fantastic with brown and blue eyes!!
Neptune: A matte bright blue. This colour is BRIGHT! Potent ha ha. I haven’t used it for a look yet so I’m not sure how well the vibrancy looks so I will give it a 5/5 for pigmentation and texture.

And there you have it. Part 3 of my Makeup Geek review…many more to come I’m sure! Marlena has just released gel liners (one of the shades is YELLOW!) and she has a lipstick line which I’m yet to try and also a bunch more eyeshadows. Ooooh actually, I just remembered, I have already ordered a gel liner so I will be reviewing that when I get it 😀

Have you tried any of these colours? What are you thoughts on them!

Review & Swatches: Arbonne Cosmetics Part 2

Hello! I’m back again, this time with a review :)This post I am reviewing lipsticks, lip liners, eyeliners and some more shades of blush and eyeshadows from the Arbonne range.

Again, I borrowed Bella’s makeup kit so I could do all these reviews so thanks very much Bella!! I really appreciate it 🙂

Lipsticks:

What Arbonne says about the lipsticks: “Long-wearing, feather-resistant lipstick glides on easily for full coverage, and intensely conditions and hydrates lips.”

What I say: I agree with the description, these lipsticks are super creamy and very hydrating which I love (I hate it when you apply a lipstick and it sucks the moisture out of your lips and you end up with dry lips at the end of the day!) It would be nice if there some shades that aren’t so shiny as not everyone likes shiny lipstick.

My favourite colours are: Candy, Rose Petal, Satin and Strawberry!

The Essentials:
Verdict: 4/5
$36 Retail

Lipliners:

What Arbonne has to say: “Smudge-proof creamy lip liner defines lips with durable pigments, helping to extend the wear of lip polish and lipstick.”

What I have to say: These pencils are nice and creamy and pigmented. What I don’t like is that they are one of those wind up pencils that are supposed to “sharpen” themselves. I much prefer to use a pencil that I can sharpen myself so I can get a nice precise line when lining my lips.

My favourite colours are: Cherry, Pink Mauve and Cafe.

The Essentials:
Verdict: 3.5/5 (Just because of the design)
$32 Retail

Eyeliners:

What Arbonne has to say: “Long-wearing, creamy eye liner glides on effortlessly for flawless precision and definition. Includes detachable sharpener. Safe for contact lens users.”

What I have to say: Loving how soft and creamy the liners are, and they really are designed to stay put. I had to really work at removing the swatches from my arm…I do like a liner that doesn’t fade away within hours! Again, the draw back is that I don’t like the wind up design..

My favourite colours are: Olive and Ebony. I don’t like Charcoal, it looks more like a light blue than charcoal…Toffee would be a good colour for lining your brows if you like to use a brow pencil. Obviously it would be great for lighter colour brows not dark 😛 Cocoa could be used for darker brows 🙂

The Essentials:
Verdict: 3.5/5
$32 Retail

Blush:

What Arbonne has to say: “Incredibly lightweight, mineral-infused pigment creates a natural-looking blush to highlight the complexion.”

What I have to say: I like the Arbonne blushes, I like how lightweight they are…Ballet is SO pale on my arm you can barely see it! You would have to be very fair for this colour to show up on your cheeks. Berry would look nice with a more tan complexion…if you are too pale I think you could risk looking sunburnt as it’s quite a bright pink/peach colour.

The Essentials:
Verdict: 4/5
$40 Retail Price.

Eyeshadows:

What Arbonne has to say:  “Richly pigmented, mineral infused eye shadow is blendable and long-wearing.”

What I have to say:  I don’t think I would go so far as to say “richly pigmented”…I did have to do a few layers before the colours really showed up. However, the texture is lovely, soft and creamy which I love. Moss is a pretty green, definitely adding this to my “to buy” list hehe. Linen is a great colour to blend out darker colours…as you can see it’s very close to my skin tone.

My favourite colours: Moss and Linen.

The Essentials:
Verdict: 3.5
$26 Retail Client Price.

Where to buy?
Through me!  😀

If you would like to buy/try out any of the products I’ve reviewed today or in the first Arbonne review post, please do send me an email or  give me a call!! I am more than happy to come round for an express one on one session so you can try all the colours on yourself before buying.

Review & Swatches: Makeup Geek Eyeshadows – Review No. 2

Today I received a message from a follower on my Facebook page. She had noticed I used Makeup Geek eyeshadows and wanted to know if they are worth buying (they are indeed!). Her message reminded me that Makeup Geek sent me 8 eyeshadows, colours of my choice, a few months back and I completely forgot to do a review on them!!

So today I am reviewing the following shades:
Top Left to Right: Shimma Shimma, Purely Naked, Gold Digger & Glamorous.
Bottom Left to Right: Country Girl, Cocoa Bear, Bada Bing & Corrupt.

I struggled to get these two colours to show up on camera, super annoying!

Shimma Shimma is the best highlight shade! It works well with so many skin tones. It is super pigmented so a little goes a long way. I use it for the inner corners of the eye to create the illusion of being wide awake and for opening up the eyes. I also use it to highlight the brow bone. Verdict 5/5

Purely Naked is a great versatile colour. I use it a lot for going to work, I place it on my lid and blend a darkish brown into the crease for depth. I also use it to blend out dark crease colours and on the brow bone if I don’t want to use a shimmery colour up there. This colour is perfect for ladies who prefer a super natural look and only want a little colour on their eyes. The colour pay off isn’t fantastic, I do have to build it up but that’s my only negative comment on this colour 🙂 Verdict 4/5

Gold digger…a beautiful gold shade. The colour pay off isn’t the greatest, it does require a bit of building up but that’s the only issue I have with it and minor issue it is. Verdict 4/5

Glamorous is probably my most used MUG eyeshadow, apart from Shimma Shimma. This colour looks amazing on every eye colour, but really brings out blue and green eyes. I use Glamorous on my lid and Bada Bing in the crease for gorgeous bronzy brown/black smokey eye…stunning. The colour pay off is AWESOME. I can’t talk highly enough about this colour hehe 🙂 Verdict 5/5

Sooo, I actually have never used Country Girl in a makeup look!! This is the only colour I haven’t used. I’m not really a big fan of this colour and it’s colour pay off. To me it just looks like a washed out Cocoa Bear. Verdict 3/5

Now, Cocoa Bear…I LOVE!! It is a lovely matte red-brown with awesome pay off. Definitely one of my favourites. Cocoa Bear and Chickadee are a gorgeous combo (they look great on Blue Eyes). I have posted a makeup look using those two colours together with a soft yellow, it has become one of my go-to looks 🙂 Verdict 5/5

Ok first thing first…I am sorry about how messy the colours are on my arm!! I tried to clean it up for the photo but I just made it look worse ha ha! 😛

Corrupt…ok this is seriously the BLACKEST black I have ever come across and every person who has tried it agrees with me. If you only buy one colour from Makeup Geek this is the colour to get!! I use this for eyeliner, creating proper black smokey eyes and adding some darkness to my crease colour. LOVE. Verdict 5/5

Bada Bing. At first I barely touched this guy…but then I decided to give him a whirl and I fell in love 🙂 In the photo Bada Bing looks a little on the matte side, it actually has gold flecks in it which make for a nice dark chocolate-brown smokey eye. It is super pigmented so a little goes a long way. I use this a lot now for clients (and myself) as it isn’t as harsh as black but it is still quite dark. Verdict: 5/5

The Essentials:
Makeup Geek does NOT test on animals and is Talc and Paraban Free.
Price: $5.99
Where to buy: Makeup Geek

Once again I am very impressed with Makeup Geek eyeshadows. Seriously girls why buy high-end brands when you can buy Makeup Geek for the same quality and it’s only $6!!

I have noticed that MUG do a lot of neutral shades, which is cool but I would love to see Marlena and her team start bringing out some super bright shades to even out the balance of neutral and bright.

I have another 12 shades coming to me in the post!!! Super excited 😀 I will be doing a review on them when they arrive…ohhh I can’t wait!

Au revoir…

Review and Swatches: Makeup Geek Eyeshadows

Hello beautiful followers!!

I am very excited today for this post is about the new Makeup Geek eyeshadow line!! I bought the second expansion kit as I fell in love with the brighter colours. The first expansion kit is made up of more neutral colours. My MUG package arrived in one week, how’s that for fast shipping!! 🙂

I also bought the talked about Z-Palette, available from Makeup Geek store here. I bought the small palette which fits 9 MUG eyeshadow pans. I think I will buy the medium size Z-Palette next time so I can fit a few more colours in.

The Z-Palettes come in different patterns and colours…I bought the zebra print to match my makeup train case ha ha.

Razzleberry, the first red eyeshadow I have used on my eyes ever! I was apprehensive about using red as I thought it would make me look really sick and freaky. That is until I saw the talented and beautiful Jangsara do a tutorial using red eyeshadow and she looked amazing 🙂 So I tried it out and was pleasantly surprised at how cool red can look!

These three colours are my favourite out the Expansion Kit 2. How stunning is ENVY!! It makes me happy when I look at it hehe, I can’t wait to do a look with it. Moondust and Sensuous look great together. I used that combo at a makeup lesson party last week, the girl’s mother was my model and these colours looked fantastic on here. Sensuous gives a nice pop of colour but it’s not very dramatic or out-there so is perfect for older women or a more conservative work place 🙂

Poolside is highly pigmented. It is a gorgeous bright blue that would look awesome as an eyeliner to bring a pop of colour to your look. Shimmermint is super pretty, I haven’t yet had much of a play with it yet.

All in all MUG shadows, the ones I’ve bought so far, are awesome! 🙂 Every single one has great colour pay off. Marlena has done a fantastic job with her eyeshadow line. I cannot wait to get more colours!!! My poor bank account 😛

The essentials:
Price:
$5.99 for a pan – you will need a Z-Palette or some other empty palette to store them.
$7.99 for the compact.

Where to buy:
Makeup Geek

Verdict:
5/5 😀

I la la love these shadows!! GO MARLENA!! 😀

lots of muggie kisses
