Your Weekend Read

Hello my lovely readers,
I do apologise for the fact that I have not kept up my Friday’s Weekend Read…oops :/. When I get back from Bali next week (yes I am flying out to Bali Friday night!!) I will make an effort to get back into routine. For this week I’m going to try out a little addition to the Weekend Read, I am going to include all the photos I’ve instagrammed this week…it will be like a visual summary of my week :) If you like this idea please let me know in the comments!!

I love this makeup combo! Using Makeup Geek Chickadee in the crease then darkened with MUG Cocoa Bear..I used a pale yellow on the lid, from my 88 Colour Palette by Coastal Scents and used MUG Shimma Shimma in the inner corners as a highlight…lined my water line with Maybelline Eyestudio waterproof gel liner in black, applied Morgan Annie mascara in black and bam, I look good! :P

About to walk to the hospital to visit my friend. I can’t express how much I love these shoes!! I have wanted a boots like these since…forever!…I am so glad I took the plunge and paid the $100 for them. I wear them ALL the time hehe, they are so comfy and go with a lot of my clothes <3 Plus I feel great when I wear them because I know that no one else has a pair in Perth…well not that I’ve as of yet. I’ll be pretty disappointed if I come across someone wearing them one day haha.

Got my hair cut (even shorter) today :D I’ve wanted to try out a micro fringe ever since I watched The Girl with a Dragon Tattoo. I’m liking it so far! Btw how good are the millennium series!! I read the last one Girl Who Kicked the Hornet’s Nest in one sitting, all 741 pages! I didn’t finish it ’til 2.30am hehe. If you haven’t read them I recommend you go out and get yourself a copy. I can’t wait for the next movie to be made in English. Daniel Craig and Rooney Mara are perfect for the roles <3

Going through my old USBs tonight and I found a folder of pics from my 19th birthday…this is what I looked like (in 2009) three years ago!! This was when I first started to pursue makeup with a passion, thanks to Belinda who introduced me to Makeup Geek :D I look a tad different now :P

Well this week hasn’t been a busy Instagram week ha, but I will be in Bali all next week so I will have lots of photos to show you all :D

Off to pack my bags!

Review and Swatches: MAC, Inika, Nvey

Hey lovelies!

Did you all have a fabulous weekend? I spent my sunday morning doing makeup for a 21st birthday girl and several family members. I really enjoyed myself. I am getting more and more relaxed when I do makeup sessions now! It’s great as I am starting to become a lot more confident in using colour on my clients instead of sticking to basic black/grey smokey eye. My awesome aunt came along to photograph my makeup creations. Photos coming soon.

Anyways, let’s get started on what this post is actually about ha ha. Review time!

A couple of weeks back I went on a little makeup shopping spree he he. I bought lots of products for my upcoming makeup parties, plus I needed to add to my makeup kit for all my other makeup gigs. I shared photos of my hauls on Facebook via my Instagram so some of you may already know what I bought :)

Today I’m reviewing:
  • MAC Paint Pot – Constructivist
  • Inika mineral mascara
  • Nvey Organic lipstick – 354
  • A brown shadow from 88 Warm Palette.

What is it?
Nvey Eco Makeup Lipstick in No. 354

They describe it as:
ECO Lipstick delivers vibrant and natural colour compositions. An organic Castor Oil base combined with soothing safflower, beeswax and Vitamin E provides antioxidant and nourishing properties for soft, smooth lips.

Where to buy:
Nvey Eco online store.
B Kind Organic Beauty Bar through their online store or you can visit their store in Subiaco.

Overall opinion:
I LOVE this lipstick! What I love most is that it does NOT dry my lips out in the slightest. Finally a lipstick that doesn’t make my lips look dry and cracked by the end of the day :) It has a lovely creamy texture and an opaque application.  Number 354 is a reddish plum colour, it makes for a great autumn lipstick actually and looks great paired with bronze/brown eyeshadow. It’s lasting power is pretty good too. I’ve been pairing it with a Morgan Annie lip gloss in Burgundy, which I’m reviewing next.

Rating:
  • Product: 5/5
  • Price: At $29.95 these lipsticks are a little on the pricey side.
  • Would I buy again? Most definitely!

What is it?
Morgan Annie mineral gloss in Burgundy.

They Describe it as:

For a bold lip gloss that lasts, the Mineral Gloss is shiny, creamy & can either be worn on its own, or over the Mineral Lippy to add that extra glow… perfect for the next night out.
Made in Australia.

Where to buy:
Morgan Annie online shop.

Rating:

  • Product: 4/5
  • Price: At $36.00 these lip glosses are fairly pricey.
  • Would I buy again? Yes :)
Overall Opinion:
I really like this lip gloss. As mentioned in the description above, these glosses are really creamy! I like how it isn’t extremely glossy looking, it’s more of a matte gloss and it isn’t sticky at all! Hands up who hates having your lips stuck together by goopy gloss! yuck. ha ha. The only problem I really have is the price ha, I don’t really like to spend $36.00 on a lip gloss! But it is a good product and isn’t harmful to my body so I think it’s worth it.

What is it?
MAC Paint Pot – Constructivist….with a dark brown from the 88 Palette.

They describe it as:
A highly pigmented eye colour that goes on creamy but dries to an intense, vibrant finish. Long-wearing, colourfast. Creates seamless coverage without weight or caking. Blends smoothly over the lids. Cream-based, can be mixed with M·A·C shadows and liners.

Where to buy it:
MAC online store (this is the Australian Store)
Myer (Perth City)
eBay

Rating:
  • Product: 4/5
  • Price: $35.00
  • Would I buy again? YES! <3
Overall Opinion:
I love paint pots! Constructivist is my new favourite colour to create bronzy brown smokey eye! It’s such an awesome colour. A makeup artist at the MAC counter recommended I buy this colour and I am glad I listened to her. It really is a beautiful colour. It seems to look good with most eye colours, especially blue eyes. I used this as a base on sunday then put a dark purple over the top, it looked really nice :)

What is it?
Inika Mineral Mascara – Black

They describe it as:

Long, sexy, thick and natural lashes are now attainable with INIKA Mineral Mascara (8g). The pure mineral enriched formula is perfect for those with sensitive eyes. The “double-Z” brush has a revolutionary dual-function design, giving you the solution you’ve been looking for in natural mascara – thicker and fatter looking lashes. This advanced brush has a unique “Z” shape with two different edges – a lengthening edge as well as a volumising edge.

Where to buy it:
Inika online store
B Kind Organic Beauty Bar – online or in store.

Rating:

  • Product: 3.5/5
  • Price: $39.00
  • Would I buy again? Probably

Overall Opinion:
This is a really nice mascara. The Z-Brush is interesting, at first I didn’t like it but now I’ve figured out how to angle brush it works well. I like that it really is non clumping! Perks for this mascara is that it’s vegan and it’s not extremely runny or too flaky/dry like some mineral mascara’s can be. What I like to do is use the primer from my Morgan Annie mascara first then apply this mascara. $40 is a bit steep for a mascara in my opinion.

Ok so that’s my reviews for this post. I hope you find them helpful and informative. Let me know if you are going to or have tried these products. What are your thoughts on them?

As I said earlier, I did a look using these products.

Products used:

Face:
Morgan Annie Primer.
Morgan Annie mineral foundation – Light/Medium.
Zuii blush – Melon
MAC mineralised skin finish – Red head.

Eyes:
MAC paint pot – painterly as the primer.
MAC paint pot – Constructivist as a base on my lids.
88 Warm palette – dark brown over the top of Constructivist and under my lash line.
Barry M kohl pencil – White in the inner corners of my eyes.
Maybelline gel liner – Black, to line my water line.
Black from 88 Warm palette – used to intensify the crease.
Inika mascara – Black.

Lips:
Nvey lipstick – No. 354
Morgan Annie lip gloss – Burgundy.

And that’s it! Please comment and share around!

Love you guys.

Review: Mineral/Organic Eye Makeup

>I recently started working at an organic beauty store as one of their makeup artists. I LOVE working there :-D One of the requirements to working at this store is that I have to only use their makeup when I’m working…perfect excuse to buy new makeup, yay!! I have a small collection..which is building up quite quickly he he. So today I’m going to show you all my new makeup.

What is it:
Elusyion Mineral Makeup – Grace and Smokin (Eyeshadows)

They describe it as:
Elusyion pure minerals has a wonderful array of pure organic yet wild and dramatic eye products to choose from. Sheer vibrant pure crushed mineral powders which are long lasting and with the other products in our range are perfect for people with allergies or sensitive skin as they do not contain any fillers, talc, dyes fragrances or perfumes. Some of our micas are shimmery, others matte and all are simply gorgeous! As with all Earthy Essences Products, A LITTLE GOES A VERY LONG WAY!!!

Rating:
  • Product: 4/5
  • Would I buy again? Yes!
  • Price: Grace – $23.25 AUD and Smokin $23.00 AUD

Where to buy:
 Elusyion Makeup by Earthy Essence
They do International Shipping :-)
B Kind Organic Beauty Bar – you can visit their store online or in Subiaco.

Overall opinion:
Both these colors are quite shimmery in the container but on your eyes they don’t look so shimmery which is good, woman of all ages can wear these colors. They are a cool combo if you want to do a soft smokey eye. Smokin is great in the crease or all over the lid and smudged into a smokey eye. I also use it as an eyeliner. With Smokin you only need a little product on the brush…it’s very pigmented! I have found that I need to pack more on my brush for Grace but it’s a nice color and works well as a base or highlight.

What is it:
Inika Mineral Makeup – Turquoise Kingfisher Velvet (Eye shadows)

They describe it as:
INIKA eye shadows (1.2g) are rich in pigment providing vibrant and opulent colours that last all day.
The purity of ingredients means that they are perfect for even the most sensitive eyes. INIKA eye shadows are multi-purpose and can be used wet or dry as a shadow or eyeliner

Turquoise – This breathtaking colour replicates the finest turquoise gemstone.  A vibrant shade that makes you instantly think of summer days spent by a tropical oasis.

Kingfisher - No need to fish for compliments when wearing this bold and bright shimmering green.  A fabulous mood lifting colour for your eyes.

Velvet – A hot and bright purple that is guaranteed to draw attention.

Rating:
  • Product: 5/5
  • Would I buy again? Yes! I love these colors
  • Price: $25.00 AUD
Where to buy:
Shipping in Australia only: Inika – Mineral Makeup
But if you search for Inika online you may find a site that ships international.
B Kind Organic Beauty Bar – you can visit their store online or in Subiaco.

Overall opinion:
I LOVE Inika shadows. They are so bright!! I got very excited when I saw these brights. I hadn’t seen bright mineral eye shadows before. The color pay off on these are amazing! Especially with the Turquoise. I love how you don’t need much product to get a good color…these will last a long time!

  • Price: Nvey – $25.00   Zuii – $21.95
Where to buy:
 Nvey: Nvey Eco
Zuii: Zuii Organic Makeup
B Kind Organic Beauty Baryou can visit their store online or in Subiaco.

Overall opinion:
I like these two eye shadows…but the color pay off isn’t that great. I have done a look with the Sunflower and it came out really nice. Basically these are nice soft colors that you can build up if you want to go a bit darker but they won’t go really dark. The Nvey Deep Rose is a pretty pink, it makes a lovely day eyeshadow.

What is it:
Inika – Organic Eyeliner Pencil in Black Caviar.

They describe it as:
 A divine, creamy, true black.
INIKA Certified Organic eyeliners have a rich and creamy consistency unparalleled in the world of natural liners. Formulated to glide on easily, they deliver even depth of colour and real stay-ability. The colour pigments work in harmony with INIKA eye shadows to create dramatic and iridescent effects. This organic formula is perfect for the most sensitive eyes.

 Rating:
  • Product: 4/5
  • Would I buy again? Yes!
  • Price: $29.00 AUD
Where to buy:
 Inika
B Kind Organic Beauty Bar – you can visit their store online or in Subiaco.

Overall opinion:
A beautiful creamy black liner. This is great for smudging under the lash line..it’s so smooth. I love it. I also use it on my waterline but it isn’t waterproof so I have to keep reapplying throughout the day. If you love smudgy pencils then this is the one for you!

What is it:
Morgan Annie Gel Liner in Black.

Rating:
  • Product: 3.5/5
  • Would I buy again? For sure! I love gel liner.
  • Price: $39.95 AUD
Where to buy:
 Morgan Annie
Again this product is not shipped internationally. It’s a pretty new brand so I don’t think it is available world wide as of yet.
B Kind Organic Beauty Bar – you can visit their store online or in Subiaco.

Overall opinion:
Yay for an organic gel liner! Gel liner is the best, it is so much easier to use than a liquid. I like this product. However I find that I have to go over the line a couple times because it doesn’t come off really black. I set it sometimes with a black eyeshadow. It isn’t waterproof either. But hey, it’s organic and it’s not going to poison me so I’ll stick to using it. It works well :-)

Gosh this post is getting big!…and I’m only half way through my products! ha ha. I have decided that I’ll show the rest of the products to you guys in the next post. So next time I’ll review mascara, blush, concealer, primer, lip liner and a yummy lip scrub.

Until next time.
Love Chloe xx
